ALBANY, GA --
Since 1968, the Fraternal Order of Police has been hosting “Shop with a Cop” as a way of giving back to the community.

Police officers from the Albany Police Department and Albany State University were paired with 108 kids to take them shopping at the K-Mart in Albany.

Officers say this is a nice way to give back, and get to know the people they serve.

"These are people I interact with on a daily basis; actually the young man that I had lives on the beat that I patrol. I mean I've seen him once, and I learned a lot about him today," said APD Patrolman Jason Curtis.

The children chose to shop today were carefully selected with the help of social workers and church groups.
