Wilton Avenue shooting suspect is behind bars

Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough reports that deputies responded to a 911 call stating there had been a shooting at Wilton Avenue on Thursday night at 9:20 PM.

Officers arrived to the scene and found 35-year-old, Cambre Vashown Murphy lying, unresponsive without a pulse, in the roadway with what appeared to be a gunshot wound in his head.


 

37-year-old Cedric Lervell Sears was taken into custody for murder charges.

Tift County EMS and Tift County Coroner, Josh Hendrix, responded and pronounced Murphy dead at the scene.

Sears is being held in the Tift County Jail without bond.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
