ALBANY, GA. --

If you try to search for a library book online this weekend, you'll likely run into a roadblock.

The Dougherty County Public Library and more than 275 participating libraries around the state are in the process of upgrading its PINES catalog.

Library patrons won't be able to use the system starting Thursday night until Monday morning.

The Public Information Network for Electronic Services offers library card holders a shared catalog of almost 10 million items.

With the new upgrades, pages will load faster and the search page will be easier to follow.

Although the system will be out of service, business will continue.

“Fortunately we do have a good backup or stand alone system, so we will be able to conduct business as usual. We hope that all of our patrons will come out and continue to use the library as usual,” said Pauline Abidde, Manager of the Northwest Branch in Albany.
