ALBANY, GA --
City of Albany commissioners met Tuesday morning to discuss their relationships with the Aviation Commission and Water Gas & Light.

Commissioners expressed that they'd like to see City Manager, James Taylor, be more involved with the decision making for both entities.

That includes the ability to hire and fire the airport director, and also be more aware of the daily operations of WG&L.

Commissioner Roger Marietta expressed that having that much control over WG&L was quote, "overkill," and this issue needs to be tabled and re-evaluated.

However, both Commissioner Bob Langstaff and Tommy Postell argued that WG&L was,"out of order" on several issues, including the purchase of land without informing the commission.

After a vote to table the issue, it was voted down 4 "no" votes to 2 "yes" votes with Mayor Hubbard not voting.

Langstaff then attempted to clear the confusion by saying the city would not be controlling WG&L rates, and that they would be following in the steps of the city of Marietta and Thomasville.
