ALBANY, GA -- Darton State softball earned a split against Chipola College in a way that nobody near the field wanted.

In between the two game set on Thursday, a shoving match broke out between the Chipola coaches and Cavaliers assistant coach Gene Dews. The issue at hand-- a defensive shift rule brought against DC by Chipola.

Following the scuffle, Chipola packed up its team and forfeited the second game of the series. Darton State receives credit for the win from the forfeit. On the field, the Cavaliers lost first game, 8-0.

Darton State and Chipola had another doubleheader scheduled in Florida on April 6th. According to Darton head coach David Dews those games have been cancelled. Dews added his team will no longer play Chipola during the regular season.
