TIFTON, GA --
Two people have been arrested on multiple charges in Tift County after a deputy ran their tag and realized the car was stolen.

Deputy Chris Strickland with the Tift County Sheriff's Office wrote in the report that a red 1999 Subaru Outback was driving behind him going Southbound on I75 but refused to pass him.

Strickland then exited the highway and reentered behind the car to get the license plate. When Strickland ran the Colorado tag, it came up stolen with a possible missing person traveling inside.

Officials approached the car to identify 26-year-old Daniel Jake Martin, who initially gave a fake name, and 17-year-old Mackenzie Brianna Barbour. Barbour was listed as a missing person in Lakewood, Colorado, the same town the car was reported stolen from.

Officials then searched the car and found less than an ounce of marihuana and a Kimber 45-caliber semi-automatic pistol, which was also listed as stolen out or Lakewood, inside the vehicle.

Both Martin and Barbour were arrested and take to the Tift County Jail.

Martin is charged with two counts of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, giving a false name, address or birth date to law enforcement officer, driving with license suspended or revoked and for possession of marijuana, misdemeanor and open container while operating a vehicle.

Barbour is charged with two counts of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of firearm or knife during commission of a crime and for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Barbour has been released on bond but Martin remains in the jail on a $12,500 bond.
