ALBANY, GA --
Dougherty County police are looking into an attack that took place early Monday morning.

The family of WWII veteran 92-year-old Lake H. Ellis, who reportedly has dementia, said he wandered away from his son’s house on Pine Bluff Road in East Albany, making his way to Clark Avenue.

That’s where his family said he was attacked by “gang members” and that someone who witnessed the attack reportedly called 911.

Ellis was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and was treated for broken fingers, broken ribs and bruises.

Doctors discharged him to Winfield Nursing home where he will remain under supervision.

Dougherty County police are still trying to figure out what exactly happened, they say when they initially interviewed the man earlier in the week, he said he just fell down.
