ALBANY, GA --
Darton State College officials announced that Nancy Beamon has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 Dwight J. Ham Memorial Award from the Southeastern Area Blood Bankers.

Officials say that the award recognizes Beamon for her dedication to the blood bank community through her exemplary career as an educator; having produced most of the medical technicians working area laboratories.

Beamon is a certified Medical Technologist for more than 30 years and joined the Darton family in 1991. She is currently the director of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Histotechnology (HT) and Phlebotomy programs at Darton State College.

The Dwight J. Ham Memorial Award recognizes a technologist in the southeastern region who through research, educational and/or service contributions exemplifies the goals and spirit of professionalism of the SEABB. The award memorializes Dwight J. Ham, whose dedication and commitment led to the formation of the SEABB organization as a means of encouraging scientific communication and good fellowship among blood bankers.
