ALBANY, GA --
A swerving driver on the Liberty Expressway leads to multiple charges spread out across Dougherty and Lee County.

Officers say that 27-year-old Christopher Pearson was spotted swerving on the Liberty Expressway near Clark Avenue in his Saturn Ion by an officer March 6th, shortly before 10 PM.

While attempting to make a traffic stop for failure to maintain his lane, officers say Pearson threw a cigarette butt out of the car at the officer.

Once stopped, Pearson told officers the reason for his swerving was that he was texting.

While stopped, a report went out to officers about an entering automobile case that happened shortly before the traffic stop, with the suspect and vehicle description matching Pearson's.

Officers searched Pearson's vehicle and found a watch that was reported missing from the entering auto report, a shotgun, handgun, chainsaw, a leaf blower, and Xanax without a prescription.

However, Pearson is also wanted by the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Lee County officials say that they have active warrants on Pearson for burglary in the first degree and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Pearson has been charged with failure to maintain lane, littering the roadway, improper lane change, texting while driving, theft by taking, entering auto, possession of a controlled substance for the Xanax without a prescription, DUI less safe for drugs, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
