LEESBURG, GA --
Now that the new Lee County Middle School has been named, the next step was to decide how to split up all of the faculty and students for the 2013-2014 school year, which was voted on during Monday night’s Lee County Board of Education Meeting.

The board approved the plan which was carefully written up because officials say it’s an important decision for everyone.

"There's a lot of variables. There's the school, there's the zone, there's the grade, there's the team and there's the subjects, so these folks made a request and the principals tried to honor as many of the requests as they could” said Lee County Superintendent Dr. Larry Walters.

Dr. Walters added that no one will lose their job during the process, but there may be an opening or two in the future.

Also during the meeting, the board accepted a grant from Sumter EMC for more than $3,000 that will allow them to install defibrillators in the two remaining buildings that didn't have them.
