ALBANY, GA -- Due to budget cuts, several public attorney positions have been abolished.

State Court Judge Victoria Darrisaw held a meeting Friday with officials from Dougherty County's Public Defender's Office to explore options and solutions for indigent defenders.

Funds saved from abolishing the public defenders position will be used for contractors as the county cannot afford public defenders anymore.

The Public Defenders' office will continue to provide services until June 30th.
