The Georgia Board of Education has handed the responsibility of finding a Title 1 Program Specialist over to the Dougherty County School System.

Last year, it was mandated that the school system hire a state-chosen specialist to overlook the Title 1 program.

After months of unsuccessful searching for a qualified person, the state has decided to let the school system choose the candidate.

The school system must now find a specialist as well as a Title 1 program director.
