The Georgia Department of Labor announced this weekend would be the last time certain recipients of federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation would receive those benefits.

The program was started in in 2008 to help those facing long-term unemployment.

The reason certain recipients will no long receive benefits is due to a decline in Georgia's jobless rate. That rate went from nine percent in September to 8.7 percent in October and 8.5 percent in November.
