ALBANY, GA -- Folks around the Albany community gathered at the State Theatre downtown Saturday to raise money for a local woman battling breast cancer.

Jessica Wilson was diagnosed recently with an aggressive form of breast cancer, causing high medical bills and a need for better treatment.

The event titled, "Bleep Cancer: A Benefit for Jessica Wilson" was put together in hopes of giving Wilson the opportunity to get that treatment through donations.

"The more we thought about it. The raffle came about, and the auction. And basically anyone we asked would donate anything. It was 99% really small businesses, I mean they were losing money by doing it," said event organizer, Patrick Foster.

The event also had a few stars in the audience as reigning American Idol champ Phillip Phillips stopped by to show his support.
