ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County School System held their Academic Decathlon competition Thursday using the theme of "Russia."

This day-long competition was held to highlight the academic ability of various high school students.

During the day, they had to work together in teams to answer questions and compete for enough points to advance to the next level and eventually to the “Super Quiz.”

Awards were presented after the Super Quiz and then students were able to comment about their day and their experience.

Cassandra Sampson of the Dougherty County School System says this way of teaching is sometimes more effective. Sampson says the competitiveness of the event is what makes the students want to study.
