ALBANY --
To remind drivers of the dangers of hitting the roads around the holiday, Georgia State Patrol posted the numbers of New Year’s weekend accidents so far.

GSP is calculating the number of crashes from 6 p.m. Friday night to midnight on Tuesday – so far there have been 315 accidents.

Out of those crashes there were 139 injuries. Two deaths have been reported as of Monday afternoon.

To help that number stay as low as possible, AAA is asking the public to plan ahead before you go out and have a designated driver set up.

"A lot of people don't plan ahead. They have all of their preparations in place as to where they're going, who they're going to be with and maybe even what they plan on drinking that night, but they don't always make preparations in terms of how they're going to get to and from wherever they're going to be partying," said AAA Spokesman, Mark Jenkins.

Jenkins adds it's just as unsafe to be a passenger to a drunk driver, so if your driver is impaired call a cab.
