ALBANY, GA --
A few Dougherty County Children were treated to lunch and a day of shopping with the sheriff’s office Wednesday.

In total, 31 kids were carefully selected, on a need basis to "Shop with the Sheriff", which kicked off with a hibachi lunch at the Tokyo Japanese Steak House.

After eating, the children went up the street to K-Mart for a little shopping.

"We go Christmas shopping with them, and provide them with a little hope, a little bit of light, a little bit of love, at the time of the year that we should think about the giving of our selves," said Sheriff Kevin Sproul.

Each child was paired up with a volunteer, to help them spend their $85-115 gift card, which was paid for mostly by the Sheriff's Golf tournament.
