ALBANY --
The Dougherty County Rotary Club partnered with the SOWEGA Council on Aging on Tuesday to provide presents to senior citizens that are in need.

The group calls the giveaway Santa for Seniors and raised over $1,200 to provide more than 70 gifts for the elderly.

Members say it's important during a time when the focus is on children to also remember those who are older.

"I don't think you ever get past enjoying some attention and Santa Claus and getting presents, all of that," said Kay Hind, Executive Director of the SOWEGA Council on Aging.

The Dougherty County Rotary Club says it's a rewarding experience that they hope to make larger next year by raising even more money.
