ALBANY, GA --
Albany Emergency 911, held a "Sock and Glove" drive today at Martin Luther King Elementary School.

Partnering with the Albany Police Department, Albany 911 hosted the first time event in hopes of giving kids more this Christmas season.

Over 30 students had smiles on their faces, which officials say makes it all worth it.

"Well because it's the holiday season and there's a lot of children who are not fortunate enough to have gifts or things to celebrate the holidays, and just giving back to the community, we just want to see a smile on a child's face," said event coordinator, Wylene Rowe.

Rowe says the event was a huge success and plans to hold it for many years to come.
