ALBANY, GA --
Albany's blood donor center pushes for people to donate throughout the year and workers say people should forget about the holidays.

Officials say there are many patients who need blood.

During this time of year blood donor centers can be overwhelmed when the number of accidents rise and more people are in need.

"Give the gift that keeps on giving. We're always so materialistic about everything but think about the true gift that can sustain a life," said Lena Thomas of the Albany Red Cross Blood Donor Center.

Anyone who donates to the Albany donor center before December 31st will be entered into a drawing for a $1,000 dollar gift certificate.
