FITZGERALD, GA. --

After struggling with 2012 finances, the Ben Hill county manager is proposing a balanced budget for 2013.

During a work session Monday afternoon commissioners worked with the county manager to come up with a budget that they could accept.

The proposed budget for 2013 is set at 8.63 million dollars. This is less than the budget for 2012.

Officials say they have to make cuts to stay afloat.

“The public will have an opportunity to look at the budget. We'll post it on our website and then we will have a public hearing and that's an opportunity for the public to comment, if they have comments,” says Frank Field, Ben Hill County Manager.

The Ben Hill Board of Commissioners will vote on the proposed budget on December 19th after a public hearing.
