ALBANY, GA. --

A Fitzgerald man who was tased by police is charged with two counts of felony obstruction and one count of battery after barricading himself inside his home Monday night.

Around 5:45 PM, Fitzgerald police received a domestic call from the wife of 51-year-old Randy Chastain.

After arriving to the home located at 401 West Orange Street, police spoke with the victim who stated that Chastain had choked her and threw her out of their room.

Police were informed that the suspect had a rifle and a handgun inside the bedroom and that he threatened his wife and daughter that if they left the home, he would kill them.

Chastain barricaded himself inside the room for two hours before police broke through the window.

Once officers were inside the room, they found Chastain asleep.

Fitzgerald Police Chief Bill Smallwood said the man woke up and attempted to grab the officers’ weapons. This is when police tased the suspect.

Chastain was taken into custody. He is also being charged with two counts of misdemeanor obstruction.

The scene wrapped up around 8:30 p.m. No officers were harmed during the stand-off.
