ALBANY --
For the third year in a row, Albany State University has received a $10,000 National Endowment for the Arts Grant through the Challenge America Fast Track Program.

After writing and submitting a proposal, the college was awarded the highest amount possible. ASU College of Arts and Humanities Dean, Leroy Bynum Jr. says the money makes it possible to have world-class acts come to the college to perform at prices that are reasonable for students.

ASU has already planned for the money to be used towards a concert by renowned pianist, Awadagin Pratt on February 12th. The next day, Pratt will host a master workshop for music students, giving them a chance to get a hands on lesson.

Bynum says the most tickets would have cost around $40 without the grant, now they can offer the concert for only $5 to students which will encourage a higher turnout. The school says the grant also furthers their mission to provide arts education and arts exposure in Southwest Georgia.
