ALBANY, GA --
Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard has declared November Runaway and Homeless Youth month in Albany.

Hubbard made the proclamation Thursday morning at Open Arms' new outreach facility on Pine Avenue.

The Family and Youth Services Bureau awarded Open Arms a $100,000 a year grant to operate the new facility for up to 3 years.

The center provides free help and assistance for abused and homeless teens.

"We're going to offer the youth a place to come, to sit down, to relax, to receive educational material, to receive support, and actual necessities. So we're readily available to assist them in any way possible," said Tiffany Solomon the Street Outreach Director:

Youth can be referred to the program, be picked up by an outreach member, or just "drop-in."
