ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County Jail held a graduation ceremony Wednesday for two of its inmates.

Corey Mathis and Anderson Williams earned their GED’s after completing the program.

The jail offers GED courses to its inmates to provide a second chance, and help eliminate repeat offenders.

Officials hope these two men will inspire other inmates to get involved in the program as well.

“They might not see it now or know it, but it's just like family members, parents encouraging their kids, this will encourage other inmates to the aspect to maybe take a chance”, said Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul.

The jail’s GED program is funded entirely by donations, which they say they’ve received from as far away as Japan.
