ALBANY, GA -- Veterans from throughout Southwest Georgia met in Leesburg Saturday to honor local fallen heroes.

The ceremony included a moment of silence, along with each speaker outlining the importance of honoring these individuals. Retired Army Major, Bryan Newman says not only was the event a success, but it was a reminder of the sacrifice these heroes make.

"Support and recognize the veterans of the area and specifically highlight some of those that gave the full measure, gave their life in service for our country," said Major Newman.

Event organizers say they look forward to holding more events like this in the future.
