ALBANY, GA --
The Albany Chamber of Commerce and Verizon Wireless teamed up Thursday afternoon to celebrate the official launch of 4G capabilities in Albany.

4G is the latest technology to hit the market and allows quicker download speeds and multitasking abilities like surfing the web while you're on the phone.

Verizon says this launch is a big deal for Albany because not only can individuals reap the rewards, but so can businesses.

Chamber President Chris Hardy agreed saying it will allow an increase in productivity in offices that all businesses can embrace.

Verizon also used the celebration to donate two $1,000 checks to local organizations the Liberty House and Lily Pad.

The store participates in a used cell phone donation program called Hope Line that resells the old phones and donates the proceeds to charities in need.

Both the Liberty House and Lily Pad said they'll be able to use the money for many necessities to the help people in need they serve.
