Liberty House and United Way bring attention to domestic violence

ALBANY, GA --
Darton State College hosted the annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month event sponsored by Liberty House, a shelter for battered women and children.

So far in 2012, Liberty House has aided over 70 men, women and children.

In the state of Georgia, there have been over 60 deaths due to domestic violence; the youngest victim being 12 years of age.

When asked why it was important to hold this event year after years, Liberty House Executive Director Silke Deeley answered, "Because things aren't changing". Her organization is still seeing high numbers when it comes to domestic violence victims.
