ALBANY,GA --
Starting on Monday, Georgia Power will lower the Flint River one foot each day to allow homeowners along the water to repair their properties.

In years past, people have mistakenly tried to walk across the low water but Emergency Management Director Jim Vaught says it's not a good idea.

There are holes in the floor of the river and a swift current despite how low the water may be, says Vaught and he is warning the public to use extra precaution when around the water during this time.
