ALBANY, GA -- A civil paper service call nets the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit a multi-thousand dollar bust.
On September 18th, a sergeant with the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office, went to 1417 Waddell Avenue to serve civil papers to Kevin Griffin.
When he arrived, he saw two men next two a car and asked if they were Griffin, both men took off running from the officer. Upon further inspection, the officer noticed marijuana and cash in the car.
The Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit was called in and they found five pounds of marijuana which had a street value of $67,000 and nearly $19,000 in cash.
On September 27th at 9 AM, the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office received a tip that Griffin was at Dunbar's BBQ & Soul Food, on West Gordon.
Officers went to the establishment and arrested Griffin who was hiding in the kitchen.
Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit Commander Bill Barry said, "
What this shows is the interdepartmental workings, you know each of us work together. When they get information regarding drugs they pass it on to us and when we get information for other crimes other then drugs, we pass it along to them."
Griffin is being charged with probation violation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
