The Flint RiverQuarium is looking for a new way to get its water.
The RiverQuarium has asked Water, Gas, and Light, who they currently get water from, if they could drill a well to gather fresh water.
Water from WG&L is chlorinated, and RiverQuarium must de-chlorinate the water in order for the fish to be able to survive in it.
The RiverQuarium was using carbon filters for the de-chlorination process but that has been shown to cause Lateral Line disease in the fish.
Flint RiverQuarium Curator Richard Brown said "it'll make it a lot easier and a lot safer for the fish; not only Lateral Line disease, but it excludes human error in the de-chlorination process."
The WG&L board is holding off on making a decision about the well until more information on the drill becomes available.
