ALBANY, GA. --

A grand jury is in the process of reviewing several local death penalty cases because of changes made back in July.

The state of Georgia has revised the entire jury selection process.

Officials say one of the issues with local grand jury cases was whether or not the jury accurately represented the demographics of our judicial circuits.

“We believe now that under the new scenario created by the new process that there's not an argument that the grand jury is not fully representative of all the demographics of our community,” says Greg Edwards, Dougherty County District Attorney.

Cases that went before the court this week involve the child beating death of 1-year-old Janaysia Stevenson and the shooting death of Dougherty County Police Lieutenant Cliff Rouse.
