ALBANY, GA --
With the recent death of a Warwick Police K-9, we asked in our Facebook Story of the Day, "what are the requirements for a Police K-9 handler?"

Although there are no state requirements, the Lee County Police Department expects its officers to go through a rigorous training program none-the-less.

"We perform our training in Lee County at South Georgia Training Academy where we did 120 hours of training. We certified through that academy once we were done, and we also certified through a national organization, the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association," said Lee County K-9 handler, Eric Strom.
