ALBANY, GA --
Southwest Georgia has some potential when it comes to economic development.

The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission heard a presentation from Scott Purvis, the Regional Economic Development Manager to Georgia Power.

Purvis talked about some of the new businesses coming to Georgia. He also explained the qualities companies look for when deciding where to take their business.

According to Purvis, Southwest Georgia has some of those desirable traits, "There's industrial parks here, there's existing building here and there's available work force. And in addition to that there's a great transportation system with the four lane highways and rail, plus Dougherty County has one of the best regional airports in the state."

Purvis also said we need to keep marketing our area to businesses to draw them to Southwest Georgia.
