Congressman Sanford Bishop attends Plains Peanut Festival.  / From file

ALBANY, GA -- Congressman Sanford Bishop will be attending the Plains Peanut Festival this weekend, along with former United States President, Jimmy Carter.

Bishop says this event is something he looks forward to year-round and feels is extremely important to the state and district.

"Well it's just a wonderful opportunity for me to meet and greet and interact with constituents. So it's very special for me, it's special for our District, and it's special for America," said Bishop.

The Festival will be on Saturday and there will be a special parade featuring Congressman Bishop and President Carter.
