WASHINGTON, DC --
Georgia's United State Senators have issued statements after the death of State Department personnel in Libya.

Saxby Chambliss said in his statement that: “I want to express my deepest sympathies to the families of those who were killed serving our country in Libya. These Americans risked their lives to serve the interests of our country and assist the people of Libya. I am outraged by these attacks and concerned about reports that they were not spontaneous, but rather planned terrorist attacks on our country. The intelligence community needs to fully and immediately examine these claims and inform the president and Congress about how the attacks originated and who is responsible.”

In Johnny Isakson's statement, he responded: “I strongly condemn the senseless and vicious attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed U.S. Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans. Ambassador Stevens represented his country proudly and worked tirelessly so that Libyans may one day realize the freedoms and liberties that we enjoy and cherish as Americans. This tragedy should remind us all of the service of American civilians who work every day to advance the principles of the United States throughout the world. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who are affected by this terrible tragedy.”
