ALBANY, GA --
Officials with the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit say a Monday morning marijuana bust has landed two people in jail.

Investigators say Monday morning around 11:30 a.m., officers made a stop on the 5400 block of Newton Road, just south of the airport. Officers found 10 pounds of marijuana in the possession of 51-year-old Edward Bryant Conner and 29-year-old Levi Daniel Leeson.

Sixteen marijuana plants, some ranging over 8 feet high, were also recovered. Drug unit detectives say the marijuana they found on the back of the white 1999 F-150 truck was freshly harvested.  

“All in those bags came off of here because they had just come off the field. They hadn't had time to hardly get a block or so down the road when the officers had saw them coming out and went to stop them,” says Major Bill Berry, Albany Dougherty Drug Unit.

The drug unit was then able to obtain a search warrant for Conner's property located at 2825 Slade Avenue.

Upon entry to the property, the officers say they found marijuana plants, plant food and marijuana stored in jars and ziplock bags.

The two suspects have been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and manufacturing marijuana.

The recovered drugs are estimated to have a street value of $100,000.
