ALBANY, GA. --

United Way of Southwest Georgia is helping three local organizations meet the needs of our community.

United Way presented the SOWEGA Council on Aging's Retired Senior Volunteer program a $4,000 check.

Both the Special Olympics of the Albany ARC and 'The Kids Cafe' program with the Second Harvest Food Bank received $5,000 checks each.

United Way received the grant funds from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to aid organizations in need of support.

“All of these programs are linked to a health and wellness component. So all of their consumers as well as the work that they are doing in the community can be tied back to health and wellness, which is one of the four community impact areas for us,” says LaKisha Bryant, President and CEO of United Way of Southwest Georgia.

The selected organizations were required to report data that supports their funding needs in their application.
