ALBANY, GA --

The Monroe High School Class of 1986 held their 5th charity food drive Saturday.

Alumni from the class were at the Dray line on Roosevelt Ave from 10-1pm, handing out a hot meal to people in need.

This is the second time they've held a food drive at this location, and for all the volunteers, it was a way to take action in the community.

"We want to be a class that does something in deed. In other words, instead of just saying we're contributing to the community...we like to show classes and show people how were doing it. And this is just one of the ways that we do it, we're not doing to for accolades from the community we're doing it because it's the fruits of our character", said Monroe Alumni Ricky Jackson.

All the leftover food from the drive was donated to the Albany Rescue mission.
