ALBANY, GA -- The Parks at Chehaw will be opening a new exhibit on September 1st, titled African Veldt, a Chehaw safari adventure.

Visitors will be taxied out to the exhibit on-board a giant safari tram, getting the chance to see African wildlife up close and personal. Executive Director of the Park, Doug Porter says this is one of the largest exhibits the park has ever undertaken.

"We've carved out almost 50-acres of property, we cleared a lot of the pine trees and harvested them to create open vistas. We put a number of animals out there, ranging from antelope and zebras to ostriches.

Park officials also made the decision to not pave any roads in the exhibit to give Southwest Georgia visitors a real African safari experience.
