Attention Winn-Dixie shoppers, Albany police have your gun

ALBANY, GA -- Albany police responded Saturday afternoon after a loaded handgun was found in a Winn-Dixie restroom.

An Albany police officer arrived at the Winn-Dixie on Old Dawson Road shortly before 5:00 PM. Store employees told police that a shopper reported the weapon in the store's restroom.

The officer ran the serial number of the gun but no records were found at the time. He proceeded to make the handgun safe for transport and turned it in to the Albany Police Department's property management.

If the owner of the gun wants to come forward to claim it from the Albany Police Department, authorities say come prepared with substantial amount of identification.
