It’s official: organizers have released the first group of acts to perform at the “Georgia Throwdown.”

There has been lots of talk surrounding the event and those involved are proud to announce what they’ve been working for quite some time.

"We've got Drive-By Truckers, Easton Corbin, Cory Smith, Dallas Davidson and Rhett Akins are the Peach Pickers, Colt Ford, and then several of your obvious local ones,” said organizer, Sam Shugart.

The local acts who have signed include Cole Taylor, Another Alien Astronaut, Albany Idol Winner Caylee Anna and plenty more.

Shugart says they plan to announce another group of acts once the contracts are confirmed.

The “Georgia Throwdown” music festival, is beginning to rev up. As event planners put the final touches on this music marathon, inquiring minds want to know, what exactly are we in store for?

"We're bringing in three days, Friday Saturday Sunday, October 12-14, we're going to have three main stages, and we’re going to have tons of music, arts, and entertainment going on throughout the day," said Georgia Throwdown representative, Justin Andrews.

The festival is the product of "ThreeForty Creative Group" who says this event is all about spotlighting local musicians.

"You know there are tons of musicians here, tons of people who love music, and there's really nothing more than a bar scene, which is great thing, but we just wanted to bring something to Albany that hasn't really been done before," said Georgia Throwdown representative, Evan Barber.

And organizers say it’s more than just music.  The group also wanted to reach out to the community and build something that could last for years to come.

"Well we just saw a market for it, and saw how we could really help the community and help the city of Albany grow. We just wanted to take leadership on taking on that challenge," said Andrews.

The economic impact it'll have on the town is just as big. It'll hopefully bring a lot of people here, and a lot of publicity to the city which is a great place and a lot of people don't know about it.

The lineup for the three-day show has yet to be released; however event planners say they'll have a partial lineup confirmed by this Sunday.
