Last December, "Meals of Hope" was able to provide 100,000 meals for people in need around Dougherty County.

The last minute food drive saw organizers raise $25,000 in one month. They then used a team of volunteers, to package the meals and distribute them to the less fortunate.

Organizer Jason Spears wants to come back for round two, "We would like to make this an annual event every December, to package 100,000 meals that would stay right here in the community. It takes a lot of people to pull that type of even off, we had 200 plus volunteers to package all those meals in 3 hours last year."

After spending 5 years doing humanitarian work overseas Spears decided to focus on the hunger problem in his own back yard.
