ALBANY --
The Albany Fire Department rescued nine people from the Flint River Sunday night after their boat's motor died and left them stranded.

Fire officials say they got the call around 9:15 p.m. and sent a rescue boat to pick the stranded boaters up just north of Plant Mitchell.

Six passengers were transported by the rescue boat while the other three were towed back to land.

No one was injured and it is unknown at this time why the engine died.
