ALBANY, GA -- The last week of summer vacation has begun, and parents everywhere are getting their kids ready for the upcoming school year.

"For this school year, 2012 I have high expectations for my child at Radium Springs Middle, right now we're just hoping that he succeeds to his academic level and hopefully having a successful year this year," said Dougherty County parent, Alicia Maddon.

"For my children I expect them to come here and learn, to follow instructions, and their job is to make sure they do their very best," said Dougherty County parent, Loretta Harris.

But it's not just the children that need to be at the top of their game, parents expect the school district to do the same.

"The curriculum, making sure they know what they need to know, making sure that they meet the requirements that are expected of each student," said Dougherty County parent Vanessa Blakely.

"I expect the school district to provide professional teachers to our students, I expect them to be in a loving and nurturing environment and to be encouraging to our students," said Harris.

The Dougherty County School Board is reminding everyone that the first day of school is august 6th, and is hoping for a tremendous 2012-2013 school year.
