Five teachers who were accused of cheating in the CRCT scandal have now been approved to have their contracts renewed.

The Dougherty County Board of Education made the decision to award the contracts after finding that there was no sufficient evidence to against them.

All board members voted for the measure except for Darrel Ealum who voted against it.

Officials say it was important that the contracts be approved at Tuesday’s meeting.

“School's starting and these people need to begin working. We're paying them and the sooner we can get this out of the way, the quicker we can get the benefit of these employees working in the areas where they are supposed to be,” said Tommie Coleman, Dougherty County School Attorney.

Also during the meeting, several administrators were moved around to cover vacant positions in the school system.
