ALBANY, GA. --

More than 100 bowlers were at the All American Fun Park preparing to compete in the Olympics; the Special Olympics that is.

Bowlers came from all over southwest Georgia to compete in the invitational for the Special Olympics Georgia.

The event served as a warm up for the state competition.

Law enforcement officials also attended the event to support the athletes and pass out medals.

“The best part about seeing these guys here today is the awards that they'll get. They're all winners. Obviously there are some who are going for the gold but that's the best part to see all the training and all the practice and that builds up to them getting these awards which is a valuable part of it,” says Charles White, Special Olympics Georgia Senior Sports Program Manager.

The state Special Olympics bowling championship will be held at the end of August.
