ALBANY, GA --
According to the Georgia Department of Labor, the state’s unemployment rate rose one tenth of a point to 9.0% in June.

The rate is down almost a full point from last June when it was 9.9% percent.

Albany’s job rate is down 0.3% percent or 200 jobs from last June when there were 60, 400 available.

The Department of Labor says it is common for the jobless rate to rise in June due to new graduates entering the workforce at the same time public and private schools lay off employees for the summer.
