ALBANY, GA. --

The Lee County Board of Education has approved its 2012-2013 school budget.

The total school budget is set at $67 million dollars.

That includes $44 million for the general fund which includes teacher salaries and operating costs.

The remainder of the money is being put towards a new school.

Also during Monday's the board of education meeting, officials approved several new policies.

“Three additional policies were presented for first reading. That is that it takes two months to have a policy adopted. It has to be presented, lay on the table for a month and then be adopted the second month,” said Lee County School Superintendent Dr. Lawrence Walters, .

The board also approved using three different law firms for the school system in the upcoming years.
