ALBANY, GA -- The Dougherty County Kiwanis Club met Monday and welcomed guest speaker and Albany Fire Chief, James Carswell.

Each week the group attempts to bring in speakers that will better inform club members of their community and the people who look over it. However with Carswell, the Kiwanis Club looked to reflect on the past and the future of the Albany Fire Department.

"It's always nice to reminisce about what it used to be like, and of course our younger people, really don't have an idea of how long Albany, or the Albany fire department has been in existence, and all the things they may see on TV about other places, happen right here in Albany also," said Chief Carswell.

With the Kiwanis Club boasting a wide range of ages, some were astonished at the storied history of the department, as others enjoyed reminiscing about the past.
